The short version

1. Who is responsible

Wegmaker is built and operated by Weerayoot Yotasing, an independent developer based in Berlin, Germany. The developer is the controller for personal data processed directly through Wegmaker services.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the Wegmaker iPhone and Apple Watch apps, the Wegmaker website, and the Wegmaker Cloudflare Worker used for optional AI and trail features. Apple, Apple Health, map providers, Cloudflare, DeepSeek, and any vision provider process data under their own policies when their services are used.

3. Information stored by the app

Depending on how you use Wegmaker, the app can store:

• journal entries, titles, notes, spoken note transcripts, reflections, moods, and tags;
• photos, photo metadata, capture dates, place names, and coordinates;
• recorded or imported walks, bike rides, hikes, route points, distance, duration, pace, elevation, steps, cadence, energy, and heart rate samples;
• selected daily Apple Health summaries, including sleep and sleep stages, resting and walking heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, walking speed, and step length;
• saved places, map items, identification results, questions, AI replies, route guides, and writing drafts;
• app preferences, filter choices, onboarding state, and diagnostic state needed to recover interrupted activities.

This information is stored in the app container on your device. Wegmaker does not operate an account database containing your journal.

4. Local storage and backup

Wegmaker stores the library locally on your device and, when you are signed in to iCloud, syncs your journals, photos, places, identifications, and conversations through your private iCloud database. Apple Health sleep rows, imported workouts, and their health measurements stay only on this device and are not included in Wegmaker iCloud sync. You can create a separate portable export and choose where to keep it. The export is not encrypted by Wegmaker and can contain readable photos, locations, writing, and Apple Health derived measurements, so store it securely.

5. Photos, camera, microphone, and speech

Camera and photo library access are used only when you choose to capture or import a photo. Microphone and speech recognition access are used only when you choose to dictate a note. Wegmaker does not automatically copy a camera capture into your Photos library.

Photo metadata can include capture time and location. Wegmaker uses it to place a moment on the map. You can choose a different place or omit location where the interface offers that choice.

6. Location and motion

Wegmaker uses location to place photos and notes, find the device on the map, add regional context to an identification when you choose it, and record a route after you tap Start. A walk, bike ride, or hike never starts recording on its own.

During an activity you start, the app can continue receiving location in the background so the route remains complete while the screen is locked or another app is open. Motion data can be used to calculate steps and walking pace. You can stop an activity or revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings.

7. Apple Health

With your permission, Wegmaker can read selected workouts and routes, sleep sessions and stages, steps, walking distance, active energy, exercise minutes, resting and walking heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, walking speed, and step length. Wegmaker can write a completed walk, bike ride, or hike to Apple Health only when you choose Save to Health. Health data is not used for advertising. Selected sleep, heart, and movement summaries are sent through the Wegmaker Cloudflare Worker and an upstream AI provider only when you consent to and request Activity Coach or activity analysis.

8. Optional AI features

Identification, Curious, writing help, route guides, and fitness analysis are optional. Before the first request, Wegmaker asks for consent to online AI processing. When you request one of these features, Wegmaker sends only the content needed to answer that request through a Wegmaker Cloudflare Worker.

• Text features can send the question, selected journal context, notes, activity summaries, and recent conversation turns you choose to include.
• Identification and photo questions can send reduced photo data when the feature needs to inspect an image.
• If you choose location context for identification, the app sends a coarse region derived on the device, not the exact latitude and longitude.
• Trail and live guide features can send route coordinates or a search area to retrieve route, place, weather, and safety context.

Text requests are normally processed by DeepSeek. DeepSeek does not accept image input, so the current Worker configuration routes photographs to Google Gemini by default and keeps Anthropic as an allowlisted alternative. If the DeepSeek service is unavailable or not configured, a text request can also fall back to an allowlisted provider. The app or response identifies the provider where the feature exposes that information.

The Worker validates requests, limits abuse, calls the relevant provider, and returns the result. It is not designed to save the content of your journal or create an AI profile. Cloudflare and upstream providers can process request data and limited technical logs under their own terms. Do not submit information you do not want processed by those services.

9. Maps, places, weather, and trail information

Wegmaker uses Apple mapping services for maps, search, directions, and place names. Offline map and trail features can contact map tile and trail data services. A live route guide can request weather and public place information through the Worker. These requests can reveal an approximate or exact map area to the service needed to answer them.

10. Wegmarke Plus subscriptions and allowances

Wegmarke Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription purchased and managed through the App Store. Apple handles payment details; Wegmaker does not receive your card or bank information. To verify Plus access and keep feature allowances consistent, the app sends signed App Store transaction evidence to the Worker, and the Worker receives App Store Server Notifications.

The Plus ledger retains a one-way hash derived from Apple's app transaction identifier, product and entitlement state, subscription-period dates, feature allowance and point counters, feature type, and technical request or notification identifiers. It is used only to provide the subscription and prevent abuse. It is not used for advertising or tracking and does not store journal text, photos, GPS routes, Health data, AI prompts, or model answers.

11. Website data

This static website does not set advertising cookies and does not contain third party advertising trackers. It stores only your language and light or dark appearance preference in your browser. Cloudflare can process standard connection information, including IP address, user agent, requested page, and security events, to deliver and protect the website.

12. Retention and deletion

Your Wegmaker content remains on your device until you edit or delete it, remove the app and its data, or create an export. AI request content is not intentionally stored as a Wegmaker journal database. Upstream service logs and retention follow the provider terms that apply at the time of the request.

13. Security

Wegmaker uses Apple app sandboxing, encrypted HTTPS connections, and server side API credentials. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device passcode protected and install iOS security updates.

14. Your choices and rights

You can deny or revoke camera, photos, location, microphone, motion, speech, Health, and notification permissions in iOS Settings. You can avoid optional AI features. You can edit or delete entries in the app and export a Wegmaker archive for your own backup.

If the GDPR applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability. You can also withdraw consent for future processing and complain to a competent data protection authority. Because most content is held only on your device, the developer may not possess a server copy to retrieve for you.

15. Children

Wegmaker is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly create accounts for or collect personal data from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal data to the Wegmaker service can contact us.

16. Changes and contact

This policy can be updated when Wegmaker adds a feature, changes a service provider, or a legal requirement changes. The date at the top shows the current version. For questions or privacy requests, email kcc.wera.bc@gmail.com.
